EMS Program Instructor Course
The online EMS Program Instructor class available through TechPro Services, Inc. meets all DSHS and NAEMSE requirements for certification as an instructor. This is a 40-hour course designed to prepare the student to be an instructor in an adult education setting. The course currently available through our program is EMS specific, but other disciplines can use the course with permission of the instructor and modifications in student assignments will be allowed, based on the student discipline. It is approved through the Texas EMS Initial Training Program process, and students who successfully complete the course are eligible to apply to take the Texas EMS certification examination or go through the certification process for law enforcement or fire services.
Students will be required to have computer access with a Windows based computer with a Windows 98 OS or higher. Students who do not have a newer version of Powerpoint may still need to go online and download the free Powerpoint viewer to view streaming .pps presentations in the course. Students may also have to download the free Adobe Acrobat viewer if they do not have Acrobat software on their computer.
The course consists of reading multiple presentations, completing homework assignments that are embedded in the presentations, and will complete 2 projects and a final research quiz. The projects do require that the student has the capability to video him/herself and produce the product on a VHS videotape for instructor review. All final requirements are specifically listed in the course syllabus, which should be closely reviewed by the student after enrolling in the course.
